With fecundity comes responsibility, apparently

I’m not just bored by the following sacrament meeting meme, i’m actively annoyed by it: The claim that i have to be righteous, because otherwise my descendants will be wicked. Really? My descendants have no moral agency whatsoever? Who knew?

Well, if you are an alcoholic womanizer who never comes to church, chances are higher, but not guaranteed, that your kids will at least not come to church (but not necessarily be wicked). However, if you are perfect in everything, it does not necessarily mean your kids will be either. Yeah, it doesn't make sense. And I think it could open up people to say "well, that kid went astray all because mom and dad didn't do x." Not good at all.
