Blessings and cursings

I’m actually not certain, various Mormon memes notwithstanding, that God wants us to experience affliction in this life. Generally, afflictions are described in the scriptures as punishments. Not all are, of course, but it’s worth noting that even in those cases they’re not described as blessings.
