Against overextension

God seems to be into dietary restrictions without regard to whether it's a health thing or not. (Consider the prohibition on shellfish in the Mosaic code, and on meat sacrificed to idols in the early Xian church.) I think we've done ourselves a disservice by treating the Word of Wisdom as a “health code”—it's not, it's a dietary restriction. Full stop.

The health part is because of the negative effects of coffee, tea, alcohol, etc.

Personally, I want to know when we're going to be held to the do's rather than just the don't's. When the WoW was first given it was not a commandment like it is now, and only part appears to be so today. So I figure one day we'll see the eat meat sparingly and lots of grains thing as a must do rather than barely addressed.
