One of these things is not like the other

Why do Mormon sacrament services tend to have oddly random choral exhibitions? Like, a service in which all the speakers talk about the covenants of the sacrament, but then we get a bunch of youth singing some modern fluff song with random scriptural quotes about bringing one soul to God? I mean, really.

hum... I don't know. What do you think?
Is it about trying to convince the youth that "God is cool". does it mess with the idea of the Sacrament service, or only serve to moderize it?

That's really a chorister issue. They are supposed to be sure that all the songs make sense with the topic or holiday. Like the RS sisters are singing on the 28th. I (as RS chorister) got to pick the song, but it had to make sense with the SM topic that week which is testimony (we're singing I Believe in Christ).
