Consistency?

Riddle me this, dear reader:

The Mormon church leadership has repeatedly stated its opposition to permanent body modification, specifically tattoos and body piercings.*

However, they do not offer counsel against certain permanent body modifications such as, for example, elective breast augmentation.

So what’s up with that particular inconsistency?

* Except for single ear piercings for women on which—and this makes me giggle every time i think about it—they take no position.

Because no one wants to say breast or bosom (if it's not related to the Savior or Moroni or the Still Small Voice) from the pulpit.

I, however, find people who get elective breast augmentation (not reconstructive, just because they want to have bigger boobs) insane. I say this as someone with H cups.

I'm sorry for your hiccups. I hope you're over them now.
What about teeth whitening? or caps? Can the leadership develop policy on everything? Should they? I think they've been very consistent and that you never will see a published stance for that very reason. It's the shooting starlings thing.
