Planning ahead

From the it’s-never-too-early file, a thought on Halloween…

The church doesn’t allow gender-switching costumes at its costume parties. This means that whatever i (a guy) wear to a church event, i can’t go as a female person.

Given the church’s belief that one’s sex isn’t mutable, then, that means that i can totally go to my next church Halloween party as RuPaul, doesn’t it?

Really? I've never heard that rule.

Interesting—i just checked, and i can’t find anything on it in the handbooks. Apparently, what i’d been told was a church policy is actually a ward (or perhaps stake) policy. (Though the policy against masks is churchwide.)

Well, then—RuPaul it is!

Officially, it is up to the local leaders. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2011/10/29/church-halloween-event-bans-cross-gender-costumes/
