There are a few important milestone birthdays in anyone’s life. You know, first birthday, turning sixteen, turning eighteen—and for Mormons specifically, turning eight or twelve.
But the most important birthday of all, the one that gives rise to the greatest and most wonderful celebration? The one I get to experience this week—when the youngest child in the family finally turns eighteen months old, and her parents finally get to actually participate in their church meetings.
It’s been a long time coming.

Cameron didn't go to nursery until 26 months because the leader freaked him out (Sis Godfrey) and kept insisting on holding him even though he clearly was terrified of her. He'd go in fine and she'd scoop him up and he'd start screaming. Then she was released and Bro and Sis Linger were called as nursery leaders and he happily went to nursery from them on. They gave him space and didn't insist on trying to hold him.
The other two have had no problem going to nursery. We've also not experienced problems with pre-nursery age kids distracting us from meetings, though. We'll see what Adrian does. He'll probably be the one to drive us crazy for 2 hours every Sunday. So far, at 7 months, he sleeps through RS usually.
